Douglas A. Levin; NASBE
Mr. Levin is currently the Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer for the National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE). Earlier, he was Director of Education Policy for Cable in the Classroom in Washington, DC. Mr. Levin has served in leadership roles for the American Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education, the North American Council for Online Learning, the Partnership for 21st Century Skills, and the New York City Department of Education. For over a decade, he has bridged the fields of education policy, research, and technology. Prior to joining the cable industry's education foundation, Mr. Levin worked as a Principal Research Analyst for the American Institutes for Research (AIR) in Washington, DC. While at AIR, he played leadership roles in numerous national studies and education policy initiatives for the federal government, foundations, and education organizations on a wide-variety of topics. He is a regular speaker on the educational potential of technology and media, and his research and views have been cited by numerous congressional commissions and national and international media outlets. A record of work to which he contributed can also be found in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian - cited for its visionary use of information technology to produce positive educational change. Mr. Levin holds an M.A. in quantitative sociology from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and an A.B. in English literature from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA.
