Milagros Gloria Huerta; M.D.

Dr. Huerta is currently a practicing clinician in Pediatrics and Endocrinology with the Pediatric Endocrine and Wellness Center in Aventura, FL. Earlier, she was an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics for the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. She acted as the Principal Investigator and Co-Medical Director of the University of Virginia's Children's Fitness Clinic funded by the Buchanan Endowment. Earlier, Dr. Huerta had worked as a Pediatrician at the Dr. Rafael de la Cruz Pediatric Clinic in Brownsville, TX; as a Pediatrician at Gateway Community Health Center in Laredo, TX; as a Primary care physician in Police Health Services Rural Clinic. Chosica, Peru, and as a Physician in Obstetrics & Gynecology office at Police Health Services Medical Center in Lima, Peru. During her professional medical career she has earned two Fellowships in Pediatric Endocrinology at the University of Virginia, and conducted her residency and internship in Pediatrics at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. Dr. Huerta is board certified in Pediatric Endocrinology by the American Board of Pediatrics Certificate # 000956; in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. Certificate # 056202; and by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. Dr. Huerta has co-published several articles including: Huerta MG, Nadler JL, Role of Inflammatory Pathways in the Development and Cardiovascular Complications of Type 2 Diabetes, Current Diabetes Reports 2002, 2: 396-402; Roemmich JN, Huerta MG, Sundaresan SM, Rogol AD. "Alterations in Body Composition and Fat Distribution in Growth-Hormone-Deficient Prepubertal Children during Growth Hormone Therapy". Metabolism: Clinical & Experimental 50(5): 537-547, 2001 May; and Kelly TE, Sproul GT, Huerta MG, Rogol AD. "Discordant Puberty in Monozygotic Twin Sisters with Neurofibromatosis type 1 NF1)", Clinical Pediatrics 37 (5): 301-4, 1998 May. She is currently licensed to practice medicine in the states of Florida, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the State of Texas. Dr. Huerta holds a M.D. degree from the Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University in Lima, Peru.
