Jaimie Davis; Ph.D.

Dr. Jaimie Davis is an Assistant Professor at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA. Her research focuses on designing and disseminating nutrition, physical activity, and behavioral interventions to reduce obesity and related metabolic disorders in overweight adolescents. She has a strong background in nutrition, physical activity, and body composition assessment in pediatric populations. While at USC, Dr. Davis developed and tested a culturally tailored nutrition intervention, focusing on reducing added sugar and increasing dietary fiber, for overweight Latino adolescents. She has also recently developed and is in the process of testing a community nutrition and gardening curriculum for low-income minority youth. Dr. Davis was recently funded to assess whether a combined aerobic and strength training intervention can reduce adiposity, type 2 diabetes and breast cancer risk factors in overweight Latino female adolescents. Dr. Davis has Ph.D. degree in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Texas in Austin, TX, and has been a Registered Dietitian for over ten years. She is also a certified personal trainer and group exercise instructor.
