Wayne B. Moss; Boys & Girls Clubs of America

Mr. Moss is currently the Senior Director, Sports, Fitness & Recreation for Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). He’s responsible for developing sports, fitness and recreation programs and providing technical assistance to some 4,300 Boys & Girls Clubs serving some 4.58 million young people across the country and on military installation abroad. Mr. Moss is leading the effort on a longitudinal study of BGCA’s most ambitious health and wellness program – Triple Play: A Game Plan for the Mind, Body and Soul. Recently, he developed a fitness program, Wanna PLAY? that focuses on agility, balance and coordination while infusing elements of baseball and softball. Mr. Moss is also responsible for the implementation of an instructional youth baseball and teen baseball and softball programs; football and the organization’s Live Healthy Initiatives. Earlier, Mr. Moss served as the Director of Program Planning in which his responsibilities included developing program planning and assessments tools for Clubs and recognition programs for youth. He received the National Service to Youth Award. Even earlier, Mr. Moss has served as a free lance writer and is a regular contributor to Connections Magazine. He served for close to a decade as the Recreation Commissioner for the City of Cleveland (Ohio) and Deputy Director of the DeKalb County (Georgia) Parks & Recreation Department. Mr. Moss’ professional experience also includes front office capacities with the Detroit Lions and the Cleveland Browns. He holds a M.A. degree in Sports Administration & Facility Management from Ohio University in Athens, OH, and a B.A. in Journalism from Howard University in Washington, D.C.
