Shammara Wright; Senior Advisor for Workforce Development and Health Programs

Ms. Wright is a Senior Advisor for Workforce Development and Health Programs at CEO. In this role she works with agencies to help develop and support healthy living programming. Earlier, Ms. Wright Interned at several health related foundations. Even earlier, Ms. Wright was Senior Manager of After-School Programs at "generationOn", the global youth service movement igniting the power of all kids to make their mark on the world. GenerationOn is part of the "Points of Light Foundation". There, Shammara is responsible for all aspects of program management, including program design, structure, recruitment, implementation and expansion. She also serves as Chairwoman of the Working Group on Childhood Obesity and Service Learning through which she coordinates childhood obesity and service field leaders to promote and host activities that explore service-learning programs' and projects' impact on obesity prevention as it relates to environmental and policy change. Prior to joining generationOn, Ms. Wright enjoyed her tenure at The After-School Corporation; where she worked to develop the Building Healthy Communities program where she coordinated obesity prevention through service-learning after-school in Philadelphia, New Jersey and New York. She also worked as a Senior Writer at Quintiles Medical Communications in Hawthorne, NY; as a second grade Teacher and Teachers Aide in Apopka, FL, and as a freelance journalist. Ms. Wright holds a B.A. degree in Philosophy from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY and is a member of the American Diabetes Association’s School Walk council.
