Joy A. Armillay; Ed.D., RD, LDN

Dr. Armillay currently provides clinical services as a medical nutrition therapist / counselor and eating disorder specialist in a private practice in the Philadephia, PA area. She has served as a consultant to the Milestones Behavioral Health, a division of Salisbury Behavioral Health, for the children and family programs. Earlier, Dr. Armillay provided leadership and guidance for four separate divisions of the corporation including a partial hospitalization program, an early intervention program, New Hope Adult Day treatment program, and a licensed private academic school. She was also responsible for the operation and management of Aristotle Group an outpatient psychiatric and counseling practice. Dr. Armillay is a recognized eating disorder specialist and clinician, trained professional staff in interdisciplinary models that has gained notoriety in the Northeast region of PA and for insurance carriers. Even earlier, Dr. Armillay was Director of the Wyoming Valley Health Care System in Wilkes-Barre, PA where she developed and managed behavioral nutrition programs including outpatient nutrition programs, staff education, and community wellness programs. Even earlier still, she was a community nutritionist for six health centers, where she initiated corporate wellness programs, developed nutrition education for medical staff and conducted an award winning Behavior Modification Program. Dr. Armillay has earned the Anita L. Owen Award for outstanding achievement in the field of dietetics specifically for excellence in community involvement, and was nominated twice for the American Dietetic Association Media Excellence Award. She holds an Ed.D. degree in behavioral counseling from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, a M.S. degree from Marywood University in food and nutrition, and a B.S. degree from the College Misericordia in food and nutrition Dr. Armillay is a registered and licensed nutritionist (#DN001376) in the state of Pennsylvania and is a member of the Pennsylvania Dietetic Association where she served on the Board of Directors from 1986-1987.
